Routine is essential to a child’s educational success. At Little Generals Academy, we follow a specific schedule. When a child knows what to expect, they are more comfortable and thrive in a familiar environment.
DAILY SCHEDULE
OPEN 7AM-5PM

Centers (Rolling drop off) 7:00-9:00 AM --->
Students will choose from four centers: math, fine motor, art & name practice.

Morning Meeting & Lesson One 9:00-9:40 AM ------>
Students will have morning meeting and the first lesson of the day.
Morning meeting consists of the attendance song, alphabet chant and reviewing the letter, number, shape & color of the week.
Lesson #1 will consist of either a song, book or gross motor activity to grab the students’ attention, which is also called the “hook” of the lesson. All students will participate in a group activity.

Snack 9:40-10:00 AM ------>
Students will have morning snack. Please pack your child a healthy snack. During this time they will open their own packages and juices, strengthening their fine motor skills.

Calendar 10:00-10:20 AM ------>
Students will participate in calendar. They will work on identifying the days of the week, months of the year and seasons. Next, together we will count in unison the days from the first day of the month to the present.
Every day there is a different student helper, who leads calendar activities for the class and is responsible for the weather forecast.

Lesson Two 10:20-11:00 AM ------>
In Lesson #2 students will participate in one of the following activities depending on the lesson being taught: yoga, class discussion, listening to a book, or learning a song.
Next, they will rotate between centers. These centers coincide with our current theme and will consist of science, dramatic play, writing and, sensory play.

Outdoor Play/ Gross Motor 11:00-11:45---->
Students will have playtime outside, in our safe, fenced in yard. There is plenty of room for all kinds of activities, and often there will be a planned gross motor project as well.

Lunch 12:00-12:30 PM ------>
Students will eat their lunch. They will work on social skills as well as fine motor skills during this time.
The students will take turns washing their hands and using the restroom from 11:45-12:00.

Transition time 12:30-1:00 PM & Nap 1:00-2:00 PM->
Students will prepare for nap by getting their blanket & mat. They also have the option to read a book on their mat until 1:00 pm. (Nap 1-2 PM)

Afternoon Snack 2:00-2:20 PM ------>
Students will have their afternoon snack. Please pack your child a healthy snack.
With each theme, we prepare a special snack that aligns with our current theme (allergy dependent). For example, our Halloween snack was an Oreo and pretzel stick spider.
All materials for the snack activity will be provided for the students.

Free Play 2:20-3:00 PM ------>
Students have time to explore the classroom and decide what they would like to do. During this time they work on sharing skills as well as social skills!

Lesson Three 3:00-3:45 PM ------>
In Lesson #3 students will participate in a different song, book or gross motor activity that enhances the current theme.

Outdoor Play/ Gross Motor Activity 3:45-4:30 PM ---->
Students will have another opportunity to play outside, often times with a planned gross motor activity.

Lesson Four 4:30-5PM
Lesson #4 will end the day with more reading aloud, singing and additional gross motor activities. Students will then have time to complete a final, independent project, which reinforces their fine motor skills.
